- Judge at the Court of Ilfov Agricultural Sector (1983-1985), Court of Bucharest Fourth District and Tribunal of Bucharest (1985-1989)
- Inspector in the Ministry of Justice (1989-1990)
- Started the activity in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990
- 1990-1996 - successively worked as diplomat at the Permanent Delegation,
later Romania's Permanent Mission to OSCE, coordinator of the MFA Section for
OSCE politico-military cooperation, diplomat at Romania's Permanent Mission to
the International Organizations in Vienna, deputy head of mission for OSCE
politico-military and security domains.
- 1996-1997 - ADIRI scientific secretary and diplomat in OSCE Directorate in
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- 1997 - director of the MFA Directorate for OSCE and the cooperation with the
subregional structures
- 1998 - general director of the General Directorate for Judicial and Consular Affairs, MFA
- May-December 2000 - deputy secretary of the Black Sea Organization for Economic Cooperation
(OCEMN) and ambassador "en pied" to this
organization

- 1998-2000 - professor at the Human Rights Institute, chief negotiator for
bilateral and multilateral treaties concerning the borders regime, minorities
protection, readmission, as well as in the field of confidence building measures
in Europe; head of delegation to the meeting concerning the OSCE human
dimension, Commission for Human Rights in Geneva, Danube Commission etc.
