Prince Paul of Romania

Born: August 13, 1948, in Paris, France, son of HRH Carol-Mircea of Romania and Helena Henriette Nagavitzine. His father is the first born son of King Carol II of Romania from his first marriage to Princess Ioana Valentina Lambrino

Married (1995) to Lia Triff, now Princess Lia, an American woman of Romanian origin, at the Ancient Orthodox Monastery of Casin, Bucharest, Romania.( see marriage photos)


  • 1959-1961 - Studies in France under the tutelage of the Jesuits

  • 1962-1964 - Studies with Private Tutor in Oxford, England

  • 1965-1968 - Graduated from Millfield College in Somerset, England


  • 1974-1976 - After finishing his studies, launched a successful business career, starting to work for the well–known Real Estate Company "Jack Cotton & Partners" England

  • 1977-1979 - Promoted partner of “Fregate Associates”, a tourist Company in England, and the Seychelles, Indian Ocean

  • 1979-981 - President of “Dolphin Art Inc.”, Washington DC. USA

  • During the past years, resided and had business interests in London, Paris, Madrid, Lisbon, Geneva, Washington, New York, Lima-Peru, New Delhi-India

  • 1982-1984 - based London- England business activities

  • 1985-1987 - based Madrid-Spain business activities. Started to write and to do research for the book "Carol al II lea" (Carol the 2nd)

  • 1988 - Wrote a best-selling biography on his grandfather, HM King Carol II of Romania: "King Carol II. A life of My Grandfather", published by Methuen, London, England

  • 1988-1989 - wrote a biography in French, “Carol II, Roi de Roumanie", published in 1991 by Edition Denoel; created the Humanitarian Association France- Roumanie

  • 1990 - The first member of The Romanian Royal Family to come back to Romania

  • 1991

    • published in Romania, by Holding Reporter- Bucharest, “Carol al II lea, Rege al Romaniei”. Donated over 80.000 copies to universities, libraries and high schools

    • established "The Prince Paul Foundation for Romania", which has been named one of the success story of Eastern Europe with documental donations of over 4 million dollar worth of new medical equipment, medicines, scholarships, school renovations, etc *(See Foundation)

  • 1994 - edited “In Orbit of Satan” the political memoirs HM King Carol II written during his exile, and covers the period between the two great wars

  • 1999 - creates the National Party of Reconciliation

  • 2000 - candidate for the National Party of Reconciliation in the Presidential Elections of Romania


  • He is now devoting himself with his wife Princess Lia to promoting the image of Romania abroad, to lobby for Romania’s entry into NATO and the European Union.

  • Because of his divers national and international activities, Prince Paul of Romania can be characterized as a success businessman, an incorruptible political and social man and not in the last place, a real leader

  • Being the first member of the royal family who came in Romania after the revolution in 1989, Prince Paul centered his attention on economic and social rehabilitation and development of Romania. Also, by setting up in 1990 the "Prince Paul Foundation for Romania", he has a role in creating a better image of Romania abroad. The day by day activity of The Foundation includes numerous donations, charity acts and promoting young talents

  • A very important moment of the Prince Paul's life was in 1993, when he renounced at the English citizenship. Thus, His Royal Highness supplements the personal event series, otherwise natural, he appropriates with great pride the title of Romanian Citizen
