Scientific Activities
- Secretary General (1967-1974), President of the Romanian Academy (1984-1990)
and President of the Technical Section of the Romanian Academy (1981-1983,
1991-1993 and since 1998).
- Author of more than 100 scientific papers, out of which: 2 treaties, 3
volumes published in central publishing houses, 44 articles issued in magazines
published in Romania and abroad, 17 papers issued in the published volumes
of scientific national and international conferences, 5 manuals and collections
of problems published in central publishing houses, 13 didactic manuals
and collections of problems published for local purposes, 13 papers on
basis of contracts, 8 articles in several specialized magazines.
- Original contribution in the field of theoretical mechanics (sufficiency
of the virtual mechanical work principle, introduction of the idea of a
critical system, composition of accelerations in the relative movement
of solid bodies), in the theory of mechanisms (method of independent cycles,
positional analysis of mechanisms, synthesis of cinematic couples), as
well as in the field of elastic stability of structures, of vehicle dynamics,
of vibration of rotors belonging to non-inertial systems, etc.
- A coordinator of doctorates in the field of technical mechanics and of
vibrations. So far, a number of 39 candidates have defended their paper
for a doctor's degree and have consequently been awarded the doctor's title.
